Pleased as punch Pedro Solberg says there’s no reason why he and Evandro can’t win gold at the Olympics after triumphing in style at the Gstaad Major with a fabulous win over Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena.

“I’m so happy to be playing in my first Olympics, especially as it is taking place on home sand,” Pedro told us after winning his second champions’ cowbell in the mountains.

“My goal of course is to win. I know my team can do that and we showed that here. All the best teams were here.

“If we can do it here then we can do it at the Olympics.

“Of course it will be different, the Olympics only come around every four years. There will be pressure but we hope to take this win with us for Rio.”

The Brazilians’ brilliant victory avenged the previous meeting between the two teams when Dalhausser and Lucena claimed gold in Maceió back in February.

“I think we played really well today,” added Pedro. “I sided-out well and Evandro served great. With his serve and my sideout it worked really well.

“It was always going to be hard against Nick and Phil. Nick’s such a good defensive player and Phil is one of the best blockers of all-time.

“But we came with speed and a faster game today and that helped us a lot.”
