For the second year in a row Brazilians Larissa/Talita brought their talents from the Copacabana to the Alps with an awesome show in the final of the Gstaad Major.

The world number’s one team had all the answers against American heroes Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross in a final fitting of the grand occasion in the mountains to carry home yet another iconic champions cowbell.

The first set was a tight affair with both teams trading some sensational rallies – in fact the first two points saw some jaw-dropping shots played that wowed the packed Gstaadium crowd.

It was nip and tuck for much of the first set but the Brazilians upped their game to take a 1-0 lead 21-18.

Behind, the Americans started the second set badly, losing the first five points as Larissa and Talita began to turn the screw and really show their class.

But, remember this is Kerri Walsh Jennings – three-time Olympic champion – and April Ross. They mounted a strong fightback, clawing themselves back into the final and make it 9-6.

That response only served to encourage the Brazilians to up their game even more and suddenly the reigning champions had a six-point lead in the second set.

Even that gap was too much for Walsh Jennings and Ross and Larissa and Talita made no mistake to seal a superb straight sets victory.

Congratulations, girls!
