Bring your skis! There’s snow in Gstaad
Anyonefor snow volleyball?!
This is the snowy scene this morning in Gstaad, just 42 days before we rock up and put on Switzerland’s greatest show on sand!
For the second year running the picturesque Swiss village will be transformed as the world’s greatest volleyball stars climb to 1,000 meters above sea level to compete in our third Major of the summer.
But if this picture is anything to go by we could be in for some interesting conditions between 5-10 July!
However, we’re sure it won’t faze the players – they laugh in the face of tricky conditions, as we have found out before. Playing at altitude and in weird and wonderful weather comes with the territory as a beach volleyball player.
Here at Beach Majors we pride ourselves on showcasing beach volleyball in the world’s most unique locations – and Gstaad certainly fits into that bracket, with the court overlooked by the stunning alpine scenery.
And of course our Gstaad Major will take on extra significance this year as the eagerly-anticipated draw for the Olympic Games in Rio will be made!
All eyes will be on this gorgeous alpine retreat – but let’s hope the weather’s a bit warmer in July!
