Anders Mol and Christian Sørum reach first Major Series final
The Center Court crowd weren’t holding back. They wanted Norway to win. In the end it was close. Very close. But Anders Mol and Christian Sørum survived a match point and edged a thrilling three-set semifinal to book their place in their first ever Beach Major Series final.
At the end of an enthralling, back-and-forth tussle, it was a shame that one team had to lose, but having lost the first set to American Jake Gibb and Taylor Crabb, it was the Vikings that had the last word to ensure they remain on course to win their first World Tour gold.
After missing out on the top prize in Itapema in May, the Norwegians want to make sure they don’t miss out on this, their second opportunity at gold at the highest level of world beach volleyball.
“We had a goal of winning a medal this season and we did that in Brazil,” said Christian. “But we want gold. We now know what to expect from the final and we’ll be going out to get it.”

Anders added: “We had that opportunity to take gold in Brazil and we missed it. We don’t want that to happen this time. We’ll face a tough team whoever it is.
“It was a real up-and-down game, we were behind for a lot of the second set and they are a very good team. I don’t know how we did it but we did. We have a cowbell for sure, but we want the gold one!”
The Vikings will take on the winner of the second semifinal, either Italians Lupo/Nicolai or Adrian Herrera and Pablo Gavira of Spain.
The final will be live on BeachStream at 6.30pm CET.
