Well, for Marco Krattiger anyway!
It would have been easy for Marco Krattiger to sit sadly around this year’s Swatch Major Gstaad after injury ruled him out of competing at his home tournament.
But the blocker has been smiling all week – and with good reason. Not only has he been supporting his teammates and taking over our Instagram account, he also realized a dream by making – yes making! – his very own Gstaad cowbell.
Marco paid a visit to the Glockengiessererei Berger, a 90-minute drive from the Center Court, to learn how the experts put together the iconic and sought-after trophies that are awarded to each player that reaches the podium.
So while Marco might have missed the chance to compete for one, we went along with him to see the Swiss star make his very own unique cowbell.
“My plan was to go to Gstaad and win one of the cowbell trophies,” says the 22-year-old. “I got an injury so I can’t win one through playing so I just decided to create one myself.”
Check out this amazing video below and if you’d like more information on the people behind the cowbell trophies, check out their website.
Nice one, Marco!
