The women’s quarterfinal line-up at the Gstaad Major is a who’s who of star names. Names that can go down in history at the most picturesque beach volleyball tournament in the world.
The last eight is now complete and what an exciting one it is.
There’s no doubting who the form team is at the minute: Canada’s Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Paredes. The pair won Poreč Major gold last week and they have continued that form here in the Swiss Alps. The duo have yet to drop a set and destroyed German duo Glenzke/Grossner 21-13, 21-13.
All the teams in the last eight will need to be aware of the Brazilians, though. The very Brazilian team that have won this tournament the last two years…Yes Larissa/Talita have cruised through the tournament so far and their straight sets win over Barbara/Fernanda sealed yet another quarterfinal place.
Another Brazilian team, Agatha/Duda, silver medalists in Fort Lauderdale and another team have enjoyed good form so far in 2017, beat Americans Kerri Walsh Jennings and Nicole Branagh 21-19, 21-15 to also make it through – as did Canadians Pischke/May.
