Pedro/Guto make it 11 in a row with qualification victory
Poreč Major winners Pedro Solberg and Guto Carvalhaes made it an incredible 11 wins in a row this week with a qualification victory over Germans Dollinger/Erdmann on Tuesday.
The Brazilians swept all before them in Croatia last week on their way to gold and they have carried on from where they left off in the picturesque setting for the Gstaad Major.
Pedro won the golden cowbell last season with former partner Evandro, and the 31-year-old is now one step further to making it back-to-back golden cowbells by booking a place in the main draw alongside Guto.
On Monday, the Brazilians secured a place in qualification with a win in the country quota but in the first set against Dollinger and Erdmann they trailed by three points at one stage. However, they battled back to take the first 21-16.
It was a much more comfortable second set for the Poreč heroes, winning 21-13 to book yet another place in the main draw and join the three other Brazilian men’s team in the pool play.
Among the other men’s teams that made it through to the pools were Italians Ranghieri/Carambula, Belgium’s Koekelkoren/Van Walle and Sorum/Mol of Norway.
