Gstaad Major taking shape!

It's all coming together in the Swiss Alps

The Swiss Alpine gem that is Gstaad has begun its transformation that will see thousands of beach volleyball fans descend on this charming village.

During the next three weeks, the Gstaad Major will begin to take shape as the village goes from a charming alpine village into a large sports stadium.

As you can see from our photographs from the site, the Center Court and grandstands – which will seat 7,500 fans – is almost ready. What’s more over 3,000 tonnes of high-purity quartz sand will form the court where the world’s best players will battle it out for one of the biggest prizes in beach volleyball: a Gstaad cowbell!

Over 45,000 visitors will be joined by over 120 journalists and 550 volunteers who, together with the sponsors and partners, will make the third instalment of the Gstaad Major one to remember!
